I certainly agree that this ...Another great review. I certainly agree that this is the best section of Trial of a Time Lord (In know, faint praise!). Sil is much better as the back-biting sycophant (I have encounter a lot of people like this!) and still find the Peri death scene shocking, even knowing about the weak revelation in Ultimate Foe.

Blessed is a guilty delight - we know that he's taking the p!ss, but even so, he's hilarious. I think the Dorff character is greatly realised, and was very frightening to my young eyes when I first watched this. I even like how they've tried to make Thoros Beta look alien (see the pic above).

A quick word on Colin Baker - I'm a big fan of the first four Doctors and David Tennant, but after this, Baker's ahead of the rest (I've yet to warm completely to Smith). I love his boastful and sometimes darn aggressive personality. Now don't get me wrong, I wouldn't want all the Doctors to be like this, but as a one-off, I think he's great. I don't even mind the colourful that much - and I think I'm totally alone here.

Here, we see him at his most wicked, seemingly turning his back on Peri. As I understand from the commentary, he goes mad here because residual mental energy from Yrcanos affects his mind when he's put into Crozier's machine, but Martin did also say, as pointed out above, that he wrote the doctor as a bad guy prentending to be good. This would probably explain his flippancy over the deaths he causes in 'Vengeance' too I guess.

So overall, Mindwarp is the highlight of this season for me. I would much rather have had the missing season that trial (the return of the Ice Warriors and the Celestial Toymaker clinches that deal), but even so, there's nothing too wrong here. Such a shame it goes so rapidly downhill from here - for the next season and a half actually!darkwebonlinehttp://www.darkwebonline.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1284961058548237555.post-3331725996784110362010-12-21T23:59:43.761-08:002010-12-21T23:59:43.761-08:00Thanks for visiting and leaving your comment. Thanks for visiting and leaving your comment.Matthew Celestinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02874430461346560520noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1284961058548237555.post-62143354986284672562010-12-21T14:38:32.493-08:002010-12-21T14:38:32.493-08:00Took 30 years (nearly to the day), but I finally g...Took 30 years (nearly to the day), but I finally got round to watching the 1980 Flash Gordon movie the other week.

They should just find a way to put Brian Blessed in *everything, no matter what. Use CGI, have the UN pass an international law, subsume the entire world economy into paying him proper royalties, whatever it takes.W. This is the best of the Trial of a Timelord arc in my opinion and I agree that the best option regarding the Doctor's betrayal of Peri is that it is genuine. In fact, Philip Martin has said that he write the Sixth Doctor as 'a bad guy pretending to be good' which I am intrigued by.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
