Tenth Planet is a fascinating story and, as you have pointed out, a major turning point in the program's history. <br /><br />It's interesting that in the New Adventures book Iceberg and the novelization of Power of the Daleks, the Cyber technology left behind by Snow Cap is responsible for the advances in Earth's expansion into space.
