"There are worlds out there where the skies are burning; where the seas sleep and the rivers dream. There are people made of smoke and cities made of song. Somewhere there is danger, somewhere there is injustice. Somewhere else the tea is getting cold. Come on Ace, we've got work to do."

The Conservative Party is more progressive than Doctor Who
And the new Dr. Who is... another white bloke.
We Tories field parliamentary candidates who are female, black and Asian.
In 2013 everybody knew the BBC was going to cast a white male as Dr. Who and they didn't defy our expectation.
There are already two great Time Ladies, Romana and Iris Wildthyme, each with their own series of radio plays and novels. People should listen to and read those and complain less. They really are very enjoyable, and they satisfy my own desire for divers casting in the Whoniverse.
Thanks for your thoughts. Those characters are not Dr. Who, however. One can still enjoy those characters while wanting to see a female incarnation of Dr. Who.
Why are you stuck on one specific character? There are numerous companions who are very compelling and interesting. There are even very successful stories which have no appearance of the Doctor in them, such as "Face of the Enemy" and the aforementioned "Gallifrey" radio plays. I can enjoy a male Doctor and other female characters.
Proof that you don't have to be white to be a divisive, right-wing, class based, closet racist bunch of war mongering imperialists.

DeleteI don't know if you have noticed, but a lot of people are talking about an actor called Peter Capaldi for some reason.
